Our third interdisciplinary conference on internal displacement took place on 24 October 2022. This year’s conference will bring together humanitarian and development practitioners, policymakers and donors to explore new insights and successful approaches in the prevention of and solutions to disaster displacement.

The conference will highlight progress made on enhancing understanding of the drivers, impacts and risks of disaster displacement, showcase good practices that have led to positive outcomes and draw attention to gaps that still need to be addressed. IDMC will also present its first-ever report on disaster-related internal displacement in the Asia Pacific region, published in partnership with the Asian Development Bank and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The presentation of the report will be provided by Mr. Vicente Anzellini, IDMC’s Monitoring and Reporting Manager, which will be followed by a discussion with the following speakers:

  • Pui Man Kam, Doctorate at ETH Zürich presenting promising solutions in predicting displacement linked with cyclone hazards.
  • José María Tárraga, Scientific Researcher at University of Valencia presenting advancement in forecasting and understanding the risk of future drought displacement episodes.
