Disaster displacement: Papua New Guinea country briefing

Papua New Guinea (PNG) is one of the most at-risk countries in the world for natural hazards. Weather-related and geophysical events—including floods, storms, landslides, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions—cause thousands of displacements each year. Most of the displacement goes unreported.

This paper outlines the drivers, scale and risk of disaster displacement in Papua New Guinea; its financial impact; and the country's capacity to prevent and respond to the issue.
